Day 1
Paro | Beautiful Vistas
Arrive at Paro Airport where our guide will receive you. After check-in, visit Rinpung Dzong and National Museum and, later, drive to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred temples in Bhutan. In the evening, stroll around the town centre. Overnight in Paro.
Day 2
Paro, Tiger’s Nest Monastery | The National Icon
Today, hike to famed Tiger’s Nest Monastery. In the afternoon, visit a farmhouse to get a glimpse of daily life in Bhutan. End your day with some archery practice and dress up in traditional Bhutanese attire. Overnight in Paro.
Day 3
Paro – Chele La – Haa | The Hidden Valley
Start your day with a visit to Kila Gompa, the oldest nunnery in Bhutan. The building, wedged between cliffs near Chele La, serves as the residence to 100 nuns. Continue to Chele La and enjoy the views. Drive to Haa Valley and spend the afternoon exploring the town. Overnight in Haa.
Day 4
Yangthang – Talung – Khadey Gom | Quaint Villages
Drive to the trailhead near Yangthang Village (2735m). From the village, hike to 300-year old Yangthang Gompa (2885m) and continue to Talung through beautiful pine forests. Crosses a famed wooden bridge – Chag Zam – at Talung and cross meadows and forests to reach Khadey Gom (3235m), your camp for the day. Overnight at a camp in Khadey Gom.
Day 5
Khadey Gom – Saga La – Dongney Tsho | Bhutan Himalayas
From Khadey Gom, hike to Saga La (3720m) and enjoy spectacular views of Jomolhari, Chaterake and Paro Valley. A 2-hour downhill hike through rhododendron forest brings you to a meadow at Dongney Tsho (3200m). The campsite sits amid fir trees next to Dongney Tsho.
Day 6
Dongney Tsho – Genchu Zam – Balaka Chhu, Paro | Beautiful Vistas
From the camp, descend to Genchu Zam. The downhill hike takes you through an area rich in Himalayan flora and fauna. Continue towards Chodeyphu, a picturesque village at the foot of Laum Bjara (Foggy Mountain). An hour-long hike from the village brings you to Balaka Chhu where the trek ends. Your guide and driver will meet you at the end of the trek here. Drive to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Paro.
Day 7
Paro – Thimphu | The Capital
Drive to Thimphu and, en route, visit Tamchog Lhakhang, a temple dedicated to 14th – century saint and engineer Thangtong Gyalpo. Upon reaching Thimphu, visit Great Buddha Dordenma, an enormous statue of Shakyamuni Buddha perched on a hilltop. Afterwards, drive to Motithang Takin Preserve, a wildlife reserve for Takin. Make a trip to Memorial Chorten, a major landmark of the city and a place for daily worship. End your day with a visit to Tashichhoedzong, the majestic fortress of Thimphu Valley. Afterwards, if your trip coincides with the weekend, we will take you to Thimphu’s Weekend Market. Overnight at Thimphu.
Day 8
Thimphu – Dochu La – Punakha | The Gems of the Capital
Visit the major museums of Thimphu – Postal Museum, National Textile Museum, and National Institute of Zorig Chusum. Visit Jungshi Handmade Paper Factory and learn about the ancient process of papermaking. Afterwards, drive to Punakha – the old capital of Bhutan – via Dochu La, a mountain pass between Thimphu and Punakha known for its 108 gleaming white chortens and Druk Wangyal Lhakhang. Overnight in Punakha.
Day 9
Punakha – Thimphu | The Old Capital
In the morning, visit Chimi Lhakhang (The Temple of Divine Madman), a monastery built in honour of an eccentric lama, Drukpa Kunley. Afterwards, hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, a beautiful temple near Yabesa Village in Punakha Valley. Visit majestic Punakha Dzong, one the most beautiful fortresses in Bhutan. Visit the longest suspension bridge of the country located behind the fortress and enjoy the gorgeous views of the valley. Drive back to Thimphu in the afternoon. Overnight in Thimphu.

The Sagala Trek takes you through an ancient route between Haa and Paro that rice planters of Haa Valley used to travel to Paro during planting season. Hence the trail is also known as Haa Planters’ Trail. The trail weaves through forests, remote valleys and monasteries and offers a chance to experience some of the classic components of Bhutanese landscape.
Barring summers, you can attempt this trek any time of the year. Hiking in spring affords a chance to observe a wide range of flora and fauna and spectacular rhododendron blooms.
Not at all. This is an ancient, well-trodden trail and locals still use it. The trail conditions are good and there are no difficult sections on the trail. The schedule allows hikers to immerse in the surrounding landscape and enjoy the hike at a relaxed pace. The highest point is Saga La(3720m). There is no risk of altitude sickness.
With exception of tourists from India, Bangladesh and Maldives, all foreign nationals are required to obtain a visa prior to travelling to Bhutan. The current fees for a visa are USD 40. Once you confirm your trip, send us a scan of your passport at least 2 weeks prior to the planned date of arrival. Visa is issued by Tourism Council of Bhutan once full payment of your vacation has been received. We will send you the copy of your visa via email which you will have to produce at the airport along with your valid passport on arrival. Citizens of India, Bangladesh and Maldives can obtain route permit upon arrival at the port of entry; however, they are required to carry their passports or a state issued valid Voter’s Card.

In order to safeguard the cultural ethos and environment of the country, Royal Government of Bhutan regulates the volume of travellers through the policy of “high value low impact” tourism. This ensures that a limited number of tourists visit the kingdom and receive best service. As a part of the policy, the government has fixed a Daily Minimum Package for all travellers visiting Bhutan. The tariff for this trek is as follows:
