Tashi Namgay Resort
Situated just under five kilometers from Paro, the Tashi Namgay Resort represents a welcome oasis for travelers arriving in Bhutan. With peaceful riverside rooms, duplex-style cottages, and plenty of quiet space across its five-acre property, this resort is the perfect place to decompress after a long-haul international flight. Tashi Namgay is also one of the most distinctive hotels in the valley, thanks to its unique architectural style, which fuses traditional Bhutanese and contemporary design elements. In fact, it can be easily spotted from the air as your plane lands in Paro; it’s just across the Paro Chhu from the airport. The resort is also recognizable because it has embraced an eco-friendly construction model, using wooden roof shingles, solar lighting, and walls made of mud and brick.
But this doesn’t mean you’ll compromise on comfort when you stay here. There are four types of room at Tashi Namgay: Executive Suites, Junior Suites, Deluxe Suites, and Deluxe Rooms. Each of these options comes equipped with modern amenities, such as television service, internet access, and heating. Several of the rooms have great views of either the Paro Chhu river or the Rinpung Dzong, or Paro Dzong. There are also a handful of walking paths, bicycle trails, and short hikes in the immediate vicinity of Tashi Namgay. For travelers seeking a hands-on experience, the resort can even arrange seasonal gardening activities and Bhutanese cooking lessons.
